What is Active Membership?
According to our Bylaws:
Re: Membership
Section 3.01 Qualifications: A member of Unity of Blue Water shall endeavor to live in accord with Jesus Christ principles of love and truth as taught by Unity. He/she shall further the work of this ministry through his/her active interest, love, and support.
Active is defined according to Webster as: energetic, practicing, involved, committed, and enthusiastic. Therefore we could say an active member is one who participates to further the work of this ministry which can be broken down as: Active interest, which can be defined as a willingness to be of service and involved in classes, creating classes and events, hospitality, children's church, writing newsletter articles, volunteering, and tending to your own spiritual growth. From 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. Therefore what we do we do in love.
Support is defined as foundation, reinforcement, maintain, carry, hold up, encourage, assist, and strengthen. We do that by being a supportive listener, tithing, having a good foundation in Unity principles and encouraging each other to be the best they can.
Our current board has demonstrated leadership capabilities with their interest and support for this church. We all have a long history with this church's DNA and are committed to our spiritual growth. I am grateful to be serving with my fellow board members, who are truly dedicated to this church and to their spiritual growth, and to be of service to our congregation.
